When it comes to process improvement, work systems design and human error prevention, engineers tend to make one critical mistake – we get trapped in a "one size fits all" mentality. In the past, this wasn’t a bad perspective. Workplaces, workforces and the work itself used to be much more stable from day to day. This consistency allowed for standardization, a springboard toward optimization.
