Responsible for the development and maintenance of productivity tracking and standards programs, performance reporting, methods development, capital project analysis, facility planning and layout, project integration and other duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
- Present and defend labor standards in an understandable way to associates, union and management.
- Implement and train Distribution Center (DC) management, supervision and hourly support staff in the proper methods and procedures to ensure that an acceptable level of productivity is sustained.
- Determine the effectiveness of our current manpower planning tool and create another, if necessary.
- Develop and evaluate facility layout changes that will improve productivity and efficiency. Provide cost savings associated with facility layout changes. Maintain and create facility layouts.
- Study and analyze current processes, determine their effectiveness and recommend strategies for improvement.
- Establish best practices across the Distribution network. Maintain documentation of best practices and administer their execution. Establish and maintain engineered labor standards across the Distribution network based on best practices. Establish and maintain a performance incentive program based upon engineered labor standards.
- Provide functional support for the Warehouse Management System suite, including Labor Management, Slotting and Reporting. Assist DC personnel in resolving related systemic and/or operational issues.
- Measure, interpret and report on the performance of Distribution operations. Provide interpretation and recommendations to DC management teams. Build staffing planning models to aid in DC management and Distribution network planning. Help determine Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics to guide Supply Chain management.
- Support the growth and development of the Distribution network, including design, layout and start-up of new DCs. This includes specifying material handling and storage systems to be utilized in the DCs. Manage sourcing and installation of these systems into the Distribution operation.
- Support the determination and execution of the DC capital budget. Help determine requirements, identify vendors and equipment, source best solutions and coordinate ordering and installation.
- Conduct operational methods reviews; audit and develop justified alternatives.
- Develop, maintain and audit via work sampling, analysis, work observations performance standards for each job function.
- Coordinate and integrate new operational processes.
- Maintain and update warehouse optimizing and slotting software.
Qualification:
- Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or Operations Management.
- Minimum of three years experience working in a warehousing and distribution environment.
- Experience with the development of engineered labor standards and performance incentive programs preferred (e.g., predetermined time systems, such as MSD, MOST, time study).
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems and Labor Management Systems.
- Experience working with EXE preferred.
- Experience designing/building a new Greenfield DC or participating in a major DC project preferred.
- Must be able to endure working in the three temperature environments that are found within a Distribution Center.
- Ability to travel, 25 - 50% at times.
