Executive summaries of IIE Transactions
Edited by Ronald Askin
This month we highlight two articles focusing on the best way to fulfill customer orders. The first article demonstrates the advantage of using a combination of customer order information and safety stock to meet demand when delivery lead-times are variable. The second article analyzes the efficiency of fishbone layout designs for warehouses as compared to the traditional approach when using multiple-item pick lists. These articles will appear in the March 2014 issue of IIE Transactions (Volume 46, No. 3).
