The rise of the technical professional

Communication, appearance and business acumen can propel engineers to the top

By Karla Tankersley

Call it a talent war or simply a hot field to be in, but there never has been a better time to be a technical professional. Unemployment for engineers remains extremely low compared to other professionals in the marketplace. Although the boom comes and goes for engineering fields, many engineering professionals are seeing opportunities landing on their laps. As new graduates, engineers gain high salaries as they step into the world as a rookie technical professional. Technical professionals with experience and a solid game plan end up with multiple job offers throughout their careers. Many opportunities will come from your competitors, who will offer huge salaries and signing bonuses to gain your expertise for their team.
