A healthy supply chain

Working in supply chain management for a healthcare delivery system leads to much unsolicited advice regarding the sourcing, procurement and logistics management of medical supplies and equipment. In the third edition of Supply Chain Management: Processes, Partnerships, Performance, Douglas Lambert defines supply chain management as “the integration of key business processes across the supply chain for the purpose of creating value for customers and stakeholders.”

But the unique relationship between healthcare partners, customers and stakeholders can impose conflicting management challenges.
