Executive summaries of IIE Transactions

Edited by Susan Albin

This month, our research highlights feature IEs focusing on efficiency. The first paper presents a method to measure the efficiency of recycling and reusing products in a reverse supply chain – for example, collecting and reusing soft drink bottles. The second compares the efficiency of determining the size of emergency stockpiles among cooperating hospitals – should a centralized decision maker fix the quantity or should each hospital select its own quantity? These articles will appear in the May issue of IIE Transactions (Volume 43, No. 5).
