This month, our research highlights focus on IEs improving efficiency in the hospital. The first provides a method to schedule the personnel and the second provides a method to utilize the capacity. The two complementary papers lead the way to accommodate patients with varying levels of urgency and staff with various skills and scheduling preferences, all while taking account of limited resources like equipment and space. These articles appeared in the February issue of IIE Transactions (Volume 43, No. 2).
