IIE Annual Conference and Expo 2013 - May 18-22 in San Juan, Puerto Rico

San Juan, Puerto Rico, is a place where old traditions are embraced as new industry is cultivated, and the IIE Annual Conference 2013 is all about applying the traditions and core concepts of industrial and systems engineering to modern global issues. All the valuable training and networking opportunities of our annual event will be as available as they always are – just in a beautiful island setting! Remember that Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory, so U.S. citizens require no passport to travel there.

There will be hundreds of industry and research sessions targeted to the challenges of today’s IE professional who works in myriad organizations and industries to improve quality and productivity. Also, the event will provide an array of networking opportunities to get insights from the best and brightest professionals from around the world. Do not miss the exhibits showcasing the latest innovative applications and the pre-conference workshops (topics on lean, quality and leadership), the outstanding facility tours, and so much more.

The Lean Division will be at the conference with several new and exciting activities!

As a guide to your conference, here are our top 5 recommendations that a member of the IIE Lean division should not miss:

  • Lean Division Town Hall Meeting. The IIE lean division is holding its annual town hall meeting at 2 p.m. Monday, May 20. The meeting is open to all IIE members and is scheduled in the Cieba Room. Please check the conference program for the location of this meeting.
  • Lean Best Practice Award presentations. Join stalwarts from industry tell their lean implementation story – see them fight it out and be the judge on who wins the coveted Lean Best Practice Award! We invite you to attend these presentations at 8 a.m. Monday, May 20 in the Maguey room. If you are able to attend all four presentations, the IIE Lean Division would request you to volunteer your time as a judge – please email Division president Aman Sapra (asapra@stonge.com) if you would like to judge the award presentations.
  • Meet the Division Leadership at the IIE Booth for a meet-and-greet and ask to participate in Division activities! Share feedback, ask on how to get involved or just stop by to say hi – we would love to see you in person!
  • Attend lean track conference sessions (including the industry award presentations). There will be 20 sessions focused on lean and six sigma at the conference (10 for ISERC and 10 for Applied Solutions). The sessions include topical presentations on specific industries (e.g. healthcare), as well as session on methods and implementations. In addition, one session is devoted to the student paper competition and another to the Industry Best Practice Award.
