Question: What is the Reading Chapter of IIE?
Answer: Established in 1961, we are a tax-exempt non-profit organization
created to support local members of the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE). Most of our members live and work in and around the City of Reading,
Pennsylvania. Our territory includes all of Berks County, Schuylkill County,
Pottstown, & Adamstown, too!
Question: What is the relationship between the Reading Chapter and the
parent IIE organization?
Answer: We are a chartered Senior Chapter of the international Institute
of Industrial Engineers. Our IIE Chapter Number is 119.
Question: What does the Reading Chapter do?
Answer: We sponsor presentations, plant tours, dinner meetings and
seminars for our members. We also publish an award-winning newsletter, the VIEwpoint.

Question: How is the Reading Chapter funded?
Answer: We receive a portion of the dues that members pay to the
international IIE organization. And the costs of publishing our newsletter
are covered by Fortna, Inc., a material handling systems company based in
West Reading, PA.
Question: How many members belong to the Reading Chapter?
Answer: We currently have about 50 members.
Question: How is the Reading Chapter governed?
Answer: We have elected officers and a Board of Governors.
Question: How can I become a member of the Reading Chapter?
Answer: All you need to do is join the parent organization. If you live
in the City of Reading, Pottstown, Adamstown, or anywhere else in Berks
County or Schuylkill County, the national IIE office will automatically
assign you to the Reading Chapter at no extra cost!
