Choose from a wide variety of sessions that are relative to your specific areas of interest. Sessions will include opportunities for students to interact with peers and with practicing professionals. The annual conference also offers evening socials and a networking mixer organized by student host chapters. Business casual attire is required.

Student Paper Competition
Computer and Information Systems Division Student Paper Competition
The Computer and Information Systems (CIS) Division solicits applications for the CIS Best Student Paper Competition at the IIE Annual Conference & Expo. In order to be qualified for the award, the students must submit a paper (invited or contributed) for the conference using the usual submission process, fill out an application and present their work at the conference. Candidate papers will come from those submitted to the CIS Track and accepted through the regular submission process. Open to graduate and undergraduate students.

This student competition is for papers and projects demonstrating or describing the use of industrial engineering tools in a construction environment. The papers should demonstrate or describe the use of techniques such as lean methods, quality management, green technology, simulation, optimization, automation and alternative materials. Open to graduate and undergraduate students.

The competition recognizes outstanding papers in the field of lean research and practices written by a graduate or an undergraduate student. Papers should demonstrate or describe the use of techniques such as simulation, lean principle implementation, alternative designs, kaizen implementation, etc. The winner will have the opportunity to present the paper in an ISERC Research track. The award will be given in the lean track during the ISERC Research Sessions.
Quality Control and Reliability Engineering (QCRE) Student Paper Competition
The purpose of this competition is to honor outstanding papers in the field of quality and/or reliability engineering research and practice. The winner must be able to present the paper in the QCRE track at the IIE Annual Conference & Expo 2013. The award will be presented at the QCRE Town Hall meeting during ISERC, be acknowledged in the QCRE newsletter and in the Honors & Awards Program. This competition is open to both graduate and undergraduate students.

The Society for Engineering and Management Systems (SEMS) papers should demonstrate or describe the use of techniques that improve productivity and quality through effective and economical managerial techniques and philosophies. Both undergraduate and graduate students are invited to submit papers. The winners must present their papers in the ISERC Engineering Management Track at the IIE Annual Conference & Expo 2013.

Teams of three IE undergraduate students solve a real-world situational case study using the Rockwell Automation simulation package, Arena. Student team members and their faculty advisor are not required to be members of IIE to enter, but they will become members if they are one of the three teams selected to compete at the finals courtesy of Rockwell. Three finalists must be able to attend the IIE Annual Conference & Expo and present their solutions.

The competition recognizes excellence in technical writing at the undergraduate level. First place winners from previous regional conferences will move on to participate in this competition. The finalists must be able to attend the IIE Annual Conference & Expo to give oral presentations in front of their peers and professional IEs.
